Original site no longer available due to GDPR

The original site kb.monitorware.com has been taken down because of the new European data protection regulation (GDPR), to which it was not compliant. Please accept our apologies for that.

The site currently only hosts this content page here, which explains why it is no longer available. Some content may come up later, possibly being consolidated into a different site.

The site content has been consolidated and is still available online, now via

     https://www.rsyslog.com

Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

Note: the MonitorWare Knowledge Base currently links to the rsyslog site. This is done because the most important information from that site is potentially also available via rsyslog (it's error codes). We work on getting targeted redirects soon again.

Note that due to GDPR we cannot automatically redirect you, as the content is now on a different site and an automatic redirect logs your IP address as said below in our data protection information. This means we must display that information, and thus we have to use a manual redirect.

Note: we check for so-called search engine spiders/bots. If we detect these, we automatically redirect. For regular users, this is of no concern. However, it is possible to mimic as a search engine bot, which requires special configuration or software. If you access our site pretending to be a bot (a non-human), we assume that you opt-in to our data protection policy. Pretending to be non-human for the purpose of generating legal notices ("Abmahnung") is considered malicious. If we receive such a notice from you, we will file a criminal complaint against you (or any other sender) with the local police for "Noetigung" and/or whatever else may apply. We also reserve the right to have our attorney send you a counter-"Abmahnung" and recover all costs related to your actions from you. So we strongly advise not to trick the web site into abnormal behaviour.

Server Data

For security reasons we collect so-called "log data", which your internet browser transmits to us. We collect standard log data, which includes:

As we do not store any other data, there is no way to associate this information with you.

We use this data for:

Information/Cancellation/Deletion

On the basis of the Federal Data Protection Act, you may contact us at no cost if you have questions relating to the collection, processing or use of your personal information, if you wish to request the correction, blocking or deletion of the same, or if you wish to cancel explicitly granted consent. Please note that you have the right to have incorrect data corrected or to have personal data deleted, where such claim is not barred by any legal obligation to retain this data.

As we do not store any personal data, we will happily assist you with any request you may have. But we also want to tell you that we will always reply with "We have no data from you" as this is the simple truth. An exception is if you want to have your IP address removed from the server log. In this case, please send us postal mail without sender address. Just send us the IP adresses you would like to have removed, one on a line. We need them because we do not know which IP addresses belong to whom nor do we know anything about you. Upon receipt of your letter, we will search the server logs, remove the log entries (after ensuring they were not used for anything malicios) and then destroy your letter. That way, you remain totally anonymous. Please refrain from sending us any personal information inside the letter, also please do not call by telephone or send email as this would generate personal information and as such would introduce personal data that we originally did not have and cannot remove without adding additional personal data. This is why we recommend using anonymous postal mail.
